Abstract

Compact factory-made plants for biological wastewater treatment are ready-made engineering modules that are manufactured at enterprises and supplied in assembled or almost ready-to-operate form for quick installation at the facility. They are designed for the treatment of domestic or similar wastewater, most often using activated sludge. The plants usually have a modular design, occupy a small area, and require minimal operator intervention. In most cases, compact plants are used for private houses, cottages, hotels, recreation centers, camps, small settlements, some food industry enterprises, gas stations, etc. The disadvantages of compact plants are, first of all, their limited productivity. The manufacture of compact installations from sheet polypropylene for deep placement requires their placement in reinforced concrete rings to prevent «blowing» by the soil, which increases the cost of construction, limits the size and requires an increase in the number of installations. The housings of the installations (except those made of fiberglass) can be damaged by rodents. Currently, there are various compact installations from domestic and foreign companies on the market. The design of a compact installation for biological wastewater treatment - a biotank-settler has been developed at the NUVM, which is a cylindrical metal tank divided into two zones by a vertical partition that does not reach the bottom. The biotank is loaded with plastic blocks. Aeration in the biotank is carried out by a jet aerator of the «ring nozzle» type. The working fluid of the jet aerator is collected from the bottom of the biotank and the secondary settling tank and fed into the central part of the biotank. The article considers examples of the application of the developed compact plant for biological wastewater treatment of rendering plants, recreation camps, and hospitals.
