Abstract

The article addresses the problem of ensuring stable physical and mechanical characteristics in fine-grained, shaped concrete paving elements manufactured using semi-dry volumetric vibro-pressing. The author analyzed the production regulations, particularly the critical impact of integrating the preliminary (3–4 s) and main (6–8 s) vibro-pressing phases of a two-layer concrete mixture. It has been established that even when using modern concrete molding systems from leading manufacturers (MASA, Zenith, Hess), the problem of uneven mold cell filling still occurs. Based on an analysis of production experience and scientific literature, it is proven that this technological deviation leads to fluctuations in the actual bulk density of the products. This is the primary cause of instability in their physical and mechanical properties and the overall decline in the quality of the finished goods. Under real-world production conditions, the author of this publication attempted to determine the actual impact of the preliminary vibration process while filling the metal mold with a two-layer concrete mixture using the MASA 9.1 XL concrete molding system within the vibro-pressing technological process.
