Abstract

The article presents an overview of the concept of ‘artificial intelligence’ and its potential role in developing the educational environment. Based on an analysis of domestic and foreign experience, it considers the tools and methodological basis for the integration of artificial intelligence into the educational environment, to improve the training of higher education students, their acquisition of modern competencies, and the development of professional competencies of the scientific and pedagogical  staff of higher education institutions. It seems that artificial intelligence innovations have the potential to positively impact various aspects of the educational process. They could help identify gaps in students' knowledge and focus on their elimination through individual approaches. It may also be the case that the main methods of artificial intelligence (personalization, interactivity, and analytics), tools, capabilities, and their advantages over traditional teaching methods could be revealed. It would be remiss of us not to mention the importance of proctoring systems based on artificial intelligence technologies that allow monitoring of students who take a certain type of control online (module or final) to ensure that they comply with the rules of integrity. This system offers students in higher education the opportunity to combine work and study regardless ofwhere they live, their time zone, or simply the need for a secure assessment process. Online proctoring bridges modern needs and traditional assessment, offering a seamless and reliable experience of passing modules and final exams. The functions, types (live testing, post-testing, and automated testing), and possibilities of online testing are highlighted. We will also consider  the potential of AI proctoring to ensure the integrity of module and final exams, detect fraud attempts, and prevent them through real-time notifications to both students and teachers.
