Abstract
The purpose of the article is to define the conceptual foundations of sustainable development as a fundamental paradigm for harmonizing the economic, social, and environmental interests of society. Attention is focused on analyzing the historical origins of the concept, identifying current challenges, and substantiating the prospects for integrating the principles of sustainable development into state policy, business practices, and natural resource management. The modern world faces a number of challenges, including global climate change, depletion of natural resources, environmental inequality, and socio-economic instability. The concept of sustainable development serves as a response to these challenges, providing a shift toward a strategy that takes into account the interests of future generations. In this regard, the study of ways to integrate the principles of sustainable development into all spheres of social life is extremely relevant for achieving harmonious development on a global scale. To achieve the set goals, the article employs a systematic approach that allows for consideration of the interdependence between the economic, social, and environmental aspects of development. Methods of analysis and synthesis are used to study historical and contemporary concepts of sustainable development. Additionally, forecasting methods are applied to determine the prospects for implementing the principles of sustainable development in various spheres of social life. The novelty of the study lies in the comprehensive analysis of the historical origins of the concept of sustainable development and the identification of the role of Ukrainian and foreign researchers in its formation. The author highlights current challenges and prospects for applying a systematic approach to the implementation of the principles of sustainable development in state governance and business. The results of the study can be used in the development of state strategies, business practices, and management approaches to sustainable development. The integration of sustainable development principles into these areas will contribute to achieving a harmonious coexistence between society and nature, ensuring economic stability and environmental security.
