Abstract
The circular economy is a strategy that aims to optimise resource use, minimise waste and environmental impact. This article analyses the current literature on circular economy implementation, identifying the key theoretical foundations, economic and environmental potential, as well as innovations and challenges associated with its implementation. Examples of successful transitions to circular models in Europe are discussed, as well as other aspects, including the involvement of civil society organisations in increasing the pace of expected change. The analysis shows that, despite the significant benefits, there are serious challenges and risks that require a comprehensive approach for the successful implementation of the circular economy in Ukraine. The analysis showed that the introduction of a circular economy in Ukraine is a necessary step for the sustainable development of the country. The circular economy will reduce the burden on natural resources, reduce waste and pollution, and improve economic stability by increasing the efficiency of material use. However, there are risks to the implementation. Among them are the lack of recycling infrastructure, low public awareness, weak legislative framework, and possible resistance from some industries. Changes in the economic system, such as the transition to a circular economy, can be a powerful incentive for civil society organizations, encouraging them to take action. These organizations can play an important role in education, supporting recycling initiatives, and participating in the development of environmentally responsible solutions, creating positive changes in society.
