DEVELOPMENT TRENDS OF AGRICULTURE IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The scientific article examines trends in the development of agriculture in Ukraine. The dynamics of the volume of products sold by business entities of the type of economic activity A «Agriculture, forestry and fisheries» were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, a gradual increase in volume from 2010 to 2022 was determined. However, in the conditions of a full-scale war in Ukraine, the volume of products sold by business entities of this type of economic activity decreased by -3754195791.80 thousand UAH or by 24.6%. From 2010 to 2015, the share of products sold by business entities of the type of economic activity A «Agriculture, forestry and fisheries» constantly increased, reaching the highest value of 6.51% in 2015. Since 2016, there has been a gradual decrease in the share with a rapid increase to 6.2% in 2021. In the structure of crop production, the largest share is occupied by grain and leguminous crops. Analyzing development trends and the structure of animal husbandry in Ukraine, it was determined that as of January 1, 2023, the total number of farm animals was 8,377.3 thousand heads. At the same time, the largest share is taken by poultry – 180,500 thousand heads, followed by pigs – 4,948.3 thousand heads. Cattle close the top three leaders with a value of 2307.1 thousand heads. The number of employees was analyzed. It was determined that compared to 738,566 employees in the type of economic activity A «Agriculture, forestry and fisheries» in 2010, their  number decreased to 448,393 people in 2022, that is, by almost 40%. It was determined that labour productivity in agriculture continues to increase thanks to the use of modern achievements of science and technology, the development of machines and technologies.
