Abstract

Effective management of teams and personnel as a whole depends on a complex of factors, the determining factor of which is an effective communication system, which directly depends on the communicative competence of a formal or informal leader. In order to become an effective leader, a manager needs a certain set of qualities that can provide the desired result. Communicative competence today is one of the most important key skills of a leader, and like any competence, it requires a scientifically based approach to the selection of its indicators and technologies of formation and use. The article specifies the term "communicative competence", defines the structure and main components of a leader’s communicative competence, and formulates the main provisions for the development of communicative potential. Communicative competence is a system of internal resources necessary for building effective communication in a certain range of situations of interpersonal interaction. The basis for communicative competence is such personal abilities as knowledge, skills and abilities that determine effective communicative activity. Communication competence is characterized by a wide range of various components that must be present in a leader and be manifested in various situations. There is no universal set or list of such components and their indicators that will reliably allow us to draw conclusions about the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of a leader in the process of team management. Depending on the management style and psychotype, the features of the external environment, the specifics of the business process, and the social structure of the team, the leader must choose the appropriate list of components and plan their acquisition. Communicative competence is part of a leader’s communicative culture. The concept of «communicative potential» lies in the main formation of one’s own trajectory of acquisition and development of communication competence. In general, these are the objective and subjective communicative abilities characteristic of a person, which are realized both consciously and spontaneously and are an individual’s internal reserve. The degree of its development depends, first of all, on the productivity of the team, its coordination, aiming at a common result, cohesion.
