Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, RTF, or WordPerfect document format.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which can be found in the "For Authors" section.
  • The article must be prepared in B5 format, single-spaced, using 12-point Times New Roman font; margins: top – 20 mm, left and right – 25 mm, bottom – 22 mm; header/footer – 1.5 cm.
  • Where available, DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) have been provided in the reference list; if unavailable, active URLs are included.
  • At the time of submission, the submitting author(s) must provide an ORCID identifier.
  • The submitting author is responsible for ensuring that the article has been approved for publication by all co-authors.

Author Guidelines

Articles submitted to the collected scientific papers “Visnyk of the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering. Series: Agricultural Sciences” are accepted according to the following schedule: Issue No. 1 – by 15 March; No. 2 – by 15 June; No. 3 – by 15 September; No. 4 – by 15 December.

The journal accepts manuscripts that correspond to its scope, as indicated by the UDC (Universal Decimal Classification) code placed in the upper left corner.

Only articles of scientific, applied scientific, and practical value are considered for publication. An author may submit only one original research article per issue, which must not have been published previously.

The views expressed by the authors do not necessarily reflect those of the editorial board. Manuscripts that do not meet the stated requirements will not be considered. Articles rejected or not accepted for publication are neither returned to the authors nor reviewed.

Manuscript preparation requirements

The article must include the structural elements of a scientific paper in accordance with the Resolution of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine dated 15 January 2003, No. 7-05/01 “On strengthening requirements for scholarly journals included in the HAC lists”:

  • Problem statement
  • Analysis of recent research and publications
  • Aim, objectives, and research methodology
  • Research results
  • Conclusions and prospects for further research in this area

To enhance citation metrics, the editorial board recommends submitting manuscripts in English.

Manuscript structure

The manuscript should be arranged as follows:

  • UDC code (bold, 12 pt, left-aligned).
  • Authors’ surnames and given names (bold, 12 pt) and their qualifications (academic degree, academic title, position or level of education) in Ukrainian. ORCID ID should be indicated in square brackets (right-aligned).
  • Affiliation (name of higher education institution / research institution / company / organisation) for each author (italic, 10 pt).
  • Title of the article in Ukrainian (uppercase, bold, 12 pt, centred, one line below author information).
  • Abstract in Ukrainian (5–7 sentences) and keywords (5–7 items). The abstract should be in bold, 11 pt; the phrase “Keywords” should be in bold italics (justified). Keywords must be separated by semicolons and not exceed 250 characters (including phrases).
  • Any publication in a language other than Ukrainian must include an extended abstract in English of at least 1,800 characters, excluding keywords.
  • Main text (12 pt, single spacing after the abstract, first-line indent 1 cm, justified alignment).

Tables, figures, and formulas

  • Tables: the word “Table” is right-aligned without a full stop. The table title is centred without a full stop. If continued on the next page, indicate “Continuation of Table 1” or “Continuation of table” (if unnumbered). Font size in tables – 11 pt.
  • All tables and illustrations must be captioned and numbered; grouped as a single object if created in MS Word. Figure captions use the abbreviation “Fig.” without a full stop. A one-line space must separate the caption from the following text.
  • Formulas: centred, numbered on the right; main font size – 13 pt. Formulas must be created using Microsoft Equation 3.0 (version 3.0 or higher) or MathType. This applies also to inline formulas.

Formatting rules

  • Use round brackets in the text.
  • Use consistent quotation marks (« »).
  • Use an en dash (–), not a hyphen (-), to indicate ranges (e.g. 10–15 tonnes; 2010–2015).
  • Use non-breaking spaces (Ctrl+Shift+Space) between initials, between initials and surnames, between numbers and units (e.g. 10 kg, 23 °C), in dates (e.g. 2016), and in place names (e.g. Kyiv).
  • Use a non-breaking hyphen (Ctrl+Shift+Hyphen) in expressions such as 1990s, 2nd century.

References

  • The reference list (10 pt) must appear at the end of the article and be formatted in accordance with DSTU 8302:2015.
  • In-text citations are mandatory for each source (e.g. [4]).
  • Each source must be cited at least once; otherwise, the manuscript may be rejected.
  • References are listed consecutively, with numbers in bold, in square brackets [1]. Full stops are placed after the reference brackets. Automatic referencing is not permitted.
  • At least 50% of references should be from the last five years. Self-citations should not exceed 5%.
  • Each reference must include a DOI, PubMed ID, or URL.
  • References to authors and sources from the aggressor state are prohibited.

References (transliterated)

After one line space, include the heading REFERENCES (uppercase, bold, 12 pt, left-aligned), followed by a transliterated version of the reference list (Roman script), prepared using the transliteration service: https://www.slovnyk.ua/translit.php

English-language section

  • Authors’ names and qualifications in English (according to the transliteration rules of 27 January 2010, No. 55), formatted аналогously to the Ukrainian version.
  • Article title in English (uppercase, bold, centred).
  • Extended abstract in English (at least 1,800 characters, excluding keywords), structured, informative, and consistent with academic English conventions. Keywords must be separated by semicolons and not exceed 250 characters.

Additional provisions

  • Responsibility for the quality and content of the article rests with the author(s) and reviewer.
  • Manuscripts should be submitted by email to: visnyk_agro@nuwm.edu.ua in MS Word 97–2003 format.
  • Articles must be at least 8 pages (B5 format, single spacing, 12 pt Times New Roman; margins: top – 20 mm, left/right – 25 mm, bottom – 22 mm; header/footer – 1.5 cm). Automatic hyphenation is not allowed.

Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements will not be considered. All submissions undergo editorial peer review. Reviewed articles may be returned to authors for revision. Articles are published in the author’s version. The editorial board reserves the right to make minor edits and reductions without altering the main conclusions or the author’s style. Authors are informed separately about acceptance and publication fees. Rejected manuscripts are not returned.

Publication fees

Articles are published after payment of the publication fee.

Payment is made based on an invoice sent to the authors only after the manuscript has passed plagiarism screening, peer review, and has been recommended for publication.

The editorial board offers free publication for single-author articles submitted by third-cycle (PhD) students funded by the state budget, provided the manuscript meets all requirements and adheres to principles of academic integrity.

Such authors must submit, along with the manuscript, an official certificate from the postgraduate department confirming their state-funded status, signed by the head of the department and bearing the official seal.
