The modern popular concept of co-living has ancient origins, but the modern format emerged in the second half of the 20th century. These are usually large houses, complexes or apartments, where each resident has his own room, and common areas are shared. The article analyzes the emergence and development of co-living, describes the features and typology of this type of housing, and highlights the experience of construction in different countries. The purpose of the study is to determine the origin of the term and concept of co-living; highlighting the development of affordable housing with the functions of shared living, establishing the prerequisites and factors of building development, establishing modern directions for the development of this housing and highlighting its importance for modern architecture and its place in the urban structure. After the start of the full-scale invasion of the neighboring country from the east, many Ukrainians were left without their own homes. The issue of housing primarily includes aspects related toaccessibility under different circumstances for different social groupsof people. Considering the complex housing market in Ukraine, coliving is relevant and can be an answer to the requests of consumers of various contingents. The concept of co-living housing is a good idea for solving housing problems, but requires an integrated approach. Beforebuilding new houses, it is necessary to conduct a demand analysis and develop plans taking into account the needs of the population. This may include the construction of economic housing, social housing for low-income families, students and other needy groups. Improving existing housing can be an effective way to make it more affordable. This may include renovation of old buildings, conversion of uninhabitable premises from commercial to residential use, andsubsidy programs to improve living conditions. The government can take measures to support affordable housing, such as providing subsidies for the purchase or rental of housing for low-income families, regulating the real estate market to prevent speculation and artificial price inflation, and encouraging housing development through tax incentives or other financial measures. The development of public transport and other infrastructure projects can improve the affordability of housing outside the inner city areas and reduce the pressure on house prices in these areas. These approaches can be complementary, and the effectiveness of the strategy will depend on the specific conditions of each region or country.
