The work contains theoretical generalizations and researchresults on changes caused by industry-related air pollution in forestecosystems in the main natural zones of the plain part of Ukraine. The research was based on comparative ecology principles andcarried out using the standard methods generally accepted inforestry, forest inventory, soil science, and dendrochronology. The research was based on the principles of comparativeecology and was carried out by assessing the state of forestplantations under conditions of aerotechnogenic influence andunder control. The obtained material was processed by the methodsof mathematical statistics.Trends and markers of snow and soil pollution have beenidentified in the zones of agglomerations and factories withdominance of SO2, NOx, and NH4 in emissions, as well as thermal power plants and cement productions. The study revealedanomalies in heavy metal accumulation in the soil in thermal powerplant zones as well as alkali metal accumulation in the cementproduction zones. The litter fall income dynamics and formation offorest litter were studied. Changes in biological circulation inUkrainian forest ecosystems were identified as a result of industryrelated air pollution. Changes in morphological and anatomicalparameters of pine needles, shoots, wood, and bark of Scots pineunder the influence of man-made air pollution were analyzed. Theeffect of industry-related air pollution on the health condition ofpine stands was assessed and peculiarities of horizontal andvertical forest structure changes were revealed as a result of thepollution. Specificities of radial growth dynamics under theinfluence of industry-related air pollution were found.Recommendations for increasing the resilience of forests damagedby industry-related air pollution have been developed.
