Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) are provided in the list of references; in their absence, active URLs are included.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in For authors.
  • The submitting author is responsible for ensuring that the article's publication has been approved by all the other co-authors.
  • At submission, an ORCID iD must be provided for the submitting author(s).
  • The article is in B5 format with 1.0 spacing, size 12, font Times New Roman; top margin - 20 mm, left and right margins - 25 mm, bottom margin 22 mm, footer 1.5 cm.

Author Guidelines

Articles submitted to the scientific journal Bulletin of the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering. Agricultural Sciences are accepted according to the following schedule: Issue 1 – by 15 April; Issue 2 – by 15 September; Issue 3 – by 15  December.

Only manuscripts that correspond to the scope of the journal, as defined by the assigned UDC classification (indicated in the upper left corner), are considered for publication.

Submissions must present scientific, applied, and practical relevance. Each author may submit only one original manuscript per issue, which must not have been previously published.

The views expressed in the articles do not necessarily reflect those of the Editorial Board. Manuscripts that do not meet the stated requirements will not be considered. Rejected submissions are neither returned to authors nor subject to review.

Manuscripts must contain the structural elements of a scientific article in accordance with the Resolution of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine dated 15 January 2003 No. 7-05/01 “On Enhancing Requirements for Professional Publications Included in the VAK List”.

To improve citation impact, the Editorial Board recommends that manuscripts be submitted in English.

The manuscript should be structured in the following order:

  • UDC index, in bold 12 pt font (left-aligned);
  • JEL classification code(s) (https://www.aeaweb.org/jel/guide/jel.php), in bold 12 pt font (right-aligned);
  • Author(s) full name(s) in bold 12 pt font, along with academic degree, academic title or position, or level of study, in Ukrainian; ORCID ID in square brackets (right-aligned);
  • Name of the institution (higher education institution, research institution, organisation, or enterprise) in italics, 10 pt font;
  • Title of the article in Ukrainian (ALL CAPS, bold, centred), separated by one line from author information;
  • Abstract (5–7 sentences) and keywords (5–7 words) in Ukrainian, in bold 11 pt font; the phrase “keywords” is italicised and bold (justified alignment). Keywords are separated by semicolons. The total length must not exceed 250 characters (including spaces). For manuscripts written in a language other than Ukrainian, an extended Ukrainian abstract of at least 1800 characters (including keywords) is required;
  • Main text of the article, justified, 12 pt font, with 1.0 line spacing; paragraph indent – 1 cm.
  • Tables (if present) are labelled “Table” aligned to the right; no full stop is used. Table titles are centred without a period. If a table continues on the next page, it is labelled “continued Table 1” or “continued table” if unnumbered. Table text uses 11 pt font.

  • Tables and figures must be numbered and titled. All elements of a figure created in MS Word must be grouped into a single object. Figure captions are introduced with the abbreviation “Fig.” without a full stop. A one-line space must be left between the caption and the main text.

  • Formulas are centred, with numbering aligned to the right margin. Main font size is 13 pt. Formulas must be created using Microsoft Equation 3.0 (or higher) or MathType, including symbols within the text.

    Rounded brackets must be used throughout the text. Consistent quotation marks (« ») are required.

    The hyphen must not be separated by spaces. Units such as degrees and percentages are written without spacing (e.g. 6%). Temperature is written as 20 °C (space after the degree symbol). Dashes between words are separated by spaces.

  • The reference list is set in 10 pt font and placed at the end of the article. In-text citations are mandatory (e.g. [4]). The reference list must comply with DSTU 8302:2015 standards.

    Each reference must be cited at least once in the text. Absence of in-text citations may result in rejection. References are listed consecutively and numbered in brackets [1]. Automated citation tools are not permitted.

    At least 50% of references should be from Ukrainian and international peer-reviewed journals published within the last five years. Self-citations should not exceed 5%. Each reference must include a DOI, PubMed ID, or URL where available.

    References to sources from aggressor states are strictly prohibited.

    The reference list must be transliterated into the Latin alphabet and formatted according to APA style. Automated tools such as https://www.slovnyk.ua/translit.php and http://www.citationmachine.net/ may be used.

  • Author names and affiliations must be transliterated according to Ukrainian transliteration rules (Resolution No. 55 of 27 January 2010), presented in bold font. Institutional affiliation, city, and ORCID ID are given in parentheses in regular font.

    The article title in English is written in ALL CAPS, bold, and centred.

    An English abstract (5–7 sentences) and keywords (5–7 words) are required, formatted in bold; the phrase “keywords” is italicised and bold. The abstract must be informative and linguistically consistent with academic English usage. Keywords are separated by semicolons and must not exceed 250 characters. Non-English articles must include an English abstract of at least 1800 characters including keywords.

  • Authors are responsible for the quality and content of their manuscripts together with reviewers.

    Manuscripts must be submitted in MS Word 97–2003 format.

    Articles should be 6–10 pages in length (B5 format, 1.0 spacing, 12 pt Times New Roman; margins: top 20 mm, left/right 25 mm, bottom 22 mm; header/footer 1.5 cm). Automatic hyphenation is not allowed.

    Manuscripts not meeting these requirements will not be considered. All submissions undergo plagiarism screening and peer review. Accepted manuscripts may be returned for revision. The Editorial Board reserves the right to minor editing and shortening without altering the main conclusions or authorial style. Rejected manuscripts are not returned.

    Publication is subject to peer review and payment of the publication fee. 

    Open Access and Fee Waivers
  • The publication fee is invoiced only after plagiarism checking, peer review, and editorial approval.

  • The journal accepts free publication of single-authored manuscripts by PhD students (budget-funded) provided that they comply with academic integrity and formatting requirements.

    Such authors must submit an official certificate from the postgraduate office confirming their status and funding, signed and stamped by the institution.

Agricultural Sciences are used solely for editorial purposes (review, peer review, and publication processes) and are not disclosed to third parties without the consent of the data subject, except where required by applicable legislation of Ukraine.

The editorial board ensures the confidentiality of the information received and the protection of personal data in accordance with established requirements.
